Topic: Best place to get weapons and bits?

Where are good places to get machine guns and the like in a scale that works with matchbox cars?
My WH40k bits are mostly way to big, (although it lends a cartoony look I suppose).September 26, 2015 at 9:18 pm #301
I would recommend Stan Johansen’s site:
Stan is a great guy and has some nice crew, weapons & armor, bike gangs and the like in 20mm for just our purpose. I still have some dark Future bits that I use along with Stan’s stuff for my post apoc vehicle kit bashes.September 27, 2015 at 1:06 am #303
Irregular miniatures have all sorts of loose weapons in a variety of scales . It’s best to see them at a show as you can judge what you require from their vaste range. Last year i picked up some weapons for 54mm figures which are excellebt for cars.
If you can find them ,Tamiya have equipment sets including weapons in 1/35 and 1/72. They also do missile packs in 1/72.
Poundshops sell horribly caste ‘ARMY MEN’ you get about fifty or more for a pound . They are a hard plastic but i’ve found you can cut the weapons off easily. Some make great light machine guns, other figures carry belt fed .30cals wand uhich make great vehicle based hmg’s and chain guns. Even some that are almost featureless can have their barrels removed they are long enough to position through vehicle windows .September 27, 2015 at 9:53 am #306
Stan’s stuff looks perfect, but a bit dear to ship to the uk maybe:September 29, 2015 at 7:31 pm #437
Brigade Games.September 30, 2015 at 8:11 am #446
These guys: http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/ ?
I can’t see anything in matchbox scale on that site, am I missing them? 🙂October 4, 2015 at 4:33 pm #513
Spapeways is one option the second is ebay. it depends in size of cars
Ramshackle Games do some nice bits and Curtis is a really nice guy to get stuff off or pick his brains about ideas you would like to see.October 4, 2015 at 6:34 pm #519
I ordered a bunch of weapons from Sgts Mess. WW2 stuff but the machine guns and what-not look the business if a bit small/realistic. Elhiem also do weapon mounts that could probably be appropriated for mounting on cars. I’ve order from MJ Figures as well, mostly hand held guns but some stuff might suit for crew/gunners.November 10, 2015 at 6:31 pm #740
Chatted to Curtis, actually kept pestering him over the car bits when playing Nuclear Renaissance at games club and he has released some car wars weapons bits.November 12, 2015 at 3:00 pm #743
i’ve got a set of the ramshacle 20mm car weapons ,ive been cleaning them up and preping them for painting.
My 1st thoughts are that like most ramshackle bits they seem chunky and a bit oversized ,but i was expecting that. This makes all the weapons look like heavy weapons.
The one issue i have so far is that the gunner on the crew mounted weapons are closer to 15mm so look tiny in comparison to the drivers and passengers.
I’m hoping to get some fitted on vehicles soonNovember 19, 2015 at 12:01 pm #749
found these today , they look really useful
they also have some very nice nice wrecked vehicles and barricades ad battlefield clutterNovember 19, 2015 at 10:55 pm #750
3d Printing Shapeways worth a look aroundNovember 24, 2015 at 8:36 am #753

Great looking conversion bits here: http://www.dicemechanicgames.com/productsJune 20, 2018 at 10:41 pm #4700
So I’m new to the forums and I am converting my first cars. I don’t have a lot of bits laying around and I saw this: Military Blocks Huge 400+ pcs Minifigure Weapon Pack compatible with Lego Guns for Minifigures Modern, WW2 & Sci-Fi Weapons Building Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BK17LC7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-BTkBbF574BK7
I thought it would be good and I’ll give it a try.June 23, 2018 at 11:25 pm #4716
Hey mack. I am also just getting started and finding ordering custom weapons is very expensive. This looks like a great deal if the scale isn’t too wonky. Please let me know how they come out. I’m concerned they will be too big.
ThanksAugust 31, 2018 at 1:00 am #5206
I’m going to try 99¢ army packs and toy tanks for bits 🙂September 24, 2018 at 5:53 pm #5326
Hmm, my post isn’t showing up for some reason. I’ll try again, hopefully it doesn’t double post.
I’ve been making my own weapons to mod the cars, and it’s a big part of the fun I think.
My latest project is teeny tiny dynamite to make a redneck explosive ram.October 1, 2018 at 4:39 pm #5373
Vlad, I love the home made dynamite, very cool lookingNovember 4, 2018 at 5:49 pm #5543
Thanks Dakratfink, it’s just cut up cotton buds, glue, red paint and black thread. Though the thread was a real pain in the arse to stick on!
I’ve found that cotton buds are really useful, apart from the tnt, I’ve made: miniguns, machine guns, anti-aircraft guns, mounts for weapons, bullbars and probably a bunch of other stuff I can’t remember!November 4, 2018 at 5:57 pm #5544
Excuse the crappy paint job!November 30, 2018 at 11:47 am #5691

Found this while scrounging around! Hopefully this helps some people. Lots of cheap sprues for people, drivers, and various other bits. Even 1/72 helicopters!
